As we continue to expand our activities across the UK and Ireland, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in our London office, supporting the commercial and cost management of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role will support the preparation, assessment and management of project costings across tender and project development stages, ensuring accurate quantities, competitive pricing and robust commercial assumptions. This is a commercially focused position, requiring strong quantity surveying expertise, attention to detail and the ability to work closely with engineering, procurement, tender and project teams across both office and site environments.

Your role will encompass:

  • Preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and Bills of Materials (BoM) based on completed engineering designs for Solar PV and BESS projects.
  • Developing accurate cost estimates, budgets and pricing schedules, ensuring alignment with project scope, specifications and tender requirements.
  • Reviewing engineering designs and project documentation to validate quantities, specifications and commercial assumptions.
  • Liaising closely with Engineering, Procurement and Tender teams to ensure accurate quantities, specifications and pricing.
  • Obtaining, analysing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations to support competitive and realistic project pricing.
  • Identifying cost risks, commercial opportunities and value engineering options to optimise project costs and margins.
  • Supporting the Tender Manager in defining pricing strategies and ensuring the commercial competitiveness of tender submissions.
  • Ensuring all costings are accurately documented, traceable and compliant with internal standards and client requirements.
  • Supporting tender reviews, commercial assessments and post-bid analysis, capturing lessons learned and improving future estimating processes.
  • Maintaining and updating cost databases, benchmarks and standard pricing tools for Solar PV, BESS and associated infrastructure.
  • Working closely with project and site teams to understand construction requirements, quantities, variations and cost implications.
  • Supporting the wider commercial team with cost analysis and quantity surveying activities throughout project delivery.

What you bring to the role:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Estimating or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience working on Solar PV, BESS or other large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction costs, quantities, pricing, subcontractor procurement and commercial risk.
  • Experience preparing BoQs, BoMs, cost estimates and tender pricing.
  • A Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background is highly desirable.
  • Previous on-site experience within construction, infrastructure or renewable energy projects is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working across both office and site environments, with the ability to engage effectively with project and construction teams.
  • Experience supporting projects and tenders across the UK and Ireland.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel and commercial reporting skills, with the ability to work with complex cost data and pricing information.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate costings within tight tender and project deadlines.
  • Proactive, commercially minded and solution-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
