Founding Engineering Leader (CTO / VP Engineering)

We're partnering with one of the most ambitious AI startups in Europe, building a proactive AI assistant designed to help billions of users automate conversations, workflows and everyday tasks. The product is being built around autonomous AI agents, persistent memory, multi-step reasoning and reliable task execution-solving some of the hardest engineering challenges in production AI.
What you'll own:
- Define the long-term technology strategy
- Architect highly scalable AI-native systems
- Build reliable multi-agent and autonomous AI platforms
- Lead decisions across LLM infrastructure, distributed systems and developer platforms
- Recruit and mentor a world-class engineering team
- Establish engineering culture, technical standards and hiring practices
- Partner directly with the founders on product and company strategy
We're interested in CTOs who have built products involving:
- AI Agents
- LLM platforms
- Generative AI
- Autonomous workflows
- Distributed systems
- Cloud-native platforms
- Large-scale backend architecture
- Event-driven systems
- Developer platforms
- Production AI infrastructure
Experience with technologies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangGraph, LangChain, Kubernetes, Kafka, Vector Databases, RAG, MCP, Temporal or similar would be highly advantageous.
Ideal backgrounds:
- Current or previous: Chief Technology Officer
- Founding CTO
- Technical Co-Founder
- VP Engineering
- Head of Engineering
- Distinguished Engineer
- Principal Engineer leading large technical organisations
From AI startups, AI infrastructure companies, developer tooling, cloud platforms, productivity software or high-growth technology businesses.
You'll be successful if you've:
- Brought engineering organisations from the ground up
- Taken products from concept to production at scale
- Made architecture decisions that balanced speed with long-term scalability
- Led teams building distributed systems and cloud-native platforms
- Hired exceptional engineers and technical leaders
- Enjoyed remaining hands-on whilst operating at executive level
