Made Tech is on a mission to use technology to improve society – for everyone.
We help public sector organisations transform, deliver, and manage world‑class digital products and cloud services.
Within our Software Division, we are currently tackling one of the UK’s defining challenges: the housing crisis.
The people managing repairs and compliance in social housing handle a level of complexity most software wasn’t built for—high volumes, strict regulations, and overstretched teams.
As a result, the tenant experience has fallen far behind modern expectations.
We are building software to change that.
We give housing teams genuinely better tools and give tenants more agency.
Our customers trust us because we deliver real, measurable results, and that trust is what this role is built on.
About the Role
Are you a Software Engineer who wants to see the real‑world impact of the code you write?
As a Customer Engineer, you won’t be hiding behind a ticket queue.
You will work directly with the customers using our software.
You’ll write code, ship features, and build integrations in direct response to what you hear from the people using our platform—from tenants to operational teams.
You’ll be part of a lean, fast‑moving product team that took a new product from concept to market in just three months.
You will take new customers from signed contracts to live deployments, closing the loop from problem to production.
You don’t need to be a lone wolf or own the product roadmap in isolation; this is a highly collaborative, forward‑deployed role where you’ll work closely with our product leaders to map out the best solutions for our users.
Key responsibilities
- End‑to‑End Implementation: Run customer onboarding from kick‑off to a live, working deployment as a core part of our team.
- Close the
Loop: Work with customers to understand their needs, configure the product, identify patterns across different users, and translate those patterns into production‑ready code.
- Technical Service Delivery: Build integrations, execute data migrations, and develop custom configurations to make the software work seamlessly for landlords.
- Relationship Management: Check in regularly with customers, resolve technical issues before they fester, and build genuine confidence and trust in our platform.
Skills, knowledge and expertise
- Experienced: You have demonstrable experience shipping product in a team.
You know the difference between clean work and a shortcut, and you're ready for more ownership over your work.
- Technically
Capable: You can jump into a multi‑tenanted environment with rich capabilities and differing tech stacks to deliver quality, maintainable software.
You are a strong believer in Agile practices, CI/CD, and TDD.
- AI‑Native: Tools like Cursor, Claude, and Copilot are natural parts of your workflow. You use them to move faster and smarter, not as a crutch.
- An
- Adaptable
Communicator: You can move seamlessly between a strategic conversation with a Director of Repairs and a practical, empathetic one with a contact centre agent, building trust with both.
- Self‑Directed & Collaborative: You can spot what needs doing without waiting for a ticket, but you always loop your team in early.
You thrive in a "small team, high ownership" culture.
- Purpose‑Driven: You want to use your technical skills to improve outcomes for social housing tenants across the UK.
Benefits
- Remote Working – we offer part‑time remote working for all staff.
- Paid counselling – we offer paid counselling as well as financial and legal advice.
- Flexible benefits platform – includes Smart Tech scheme, Cycle to work scheme, and an individual benefits allowance which can be invested in a healthcare cash plan or pension plan.
- Optional social and wellbeing calendar of events for all employees to join if desired.
We believe we can use tech to make public services better.
We also believe this can happen best when our own team represents the society that actually uses the services we work on.
We’re collectively continuing to grow a culture that is happy, healthy, safe and inspiring for people of all backgrounds and experiences, so we encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply for roles with us.
