Join the team behind Macmillan’s Mighty Hikes. Each year, Macmillan’s Mighty Hikes inspire thousands of people to take on marathon distance hikes across some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes, raising over £70 million to support people living with cancer. We’re looking for an organised and proactive Mighty Hikes Programme Manager to support the planning and delivery of our exceptional event day experience, while also helping to drive participant engagement. You’ll work closely with the wider Mighty Hikes team, as well as key internal and external partners.

About the role

Reporting to the senior marketing lead, you’ll support the delivery of marketing activity for Mighty Hikes, helping to drive participant recruitment, engagement and retention. Working closely with colleagues across marketing, communications, digital and the wider Mighty Hikes team, you’ll help coordinate campaigns, develop content, gather insights and support the smooth delivery of activity across a range of channels.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their marketing career who is organised, collaborative and keen to build hands-on experience across digital, content and campaign delivery.

In this role, your week might include:

  • Support the delivery of marketing activity for Mighty Hikes across digital, print and owned channels
  • Help build and manage creative and briefing requests, including using Canva to develop or adapt assets for channels such as Meta, PMAX and Display
  • Work with designers and external agencies to support the delivery of marketing materials such as door drops and press advertising
  • Coordinate the process for collecting case studies and user-generated content, helping to build a strong bank of stories and supporter content for campaigns
  • Support updates to website content, working with relevant teams to ensure pages are accurate, engaging and up to date
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on social media content, press stories and internal communications to help maximise the reach of Mighty Hikes activity
  • Gather and collate insights from campaign activity and marketing performance to help inform future planning and optimisation
  • Support data and reporting needs for the team, helping to ensure activity is informed by accurate and useful information
  • Provide general campaign and project coordination support to help keep marketing activity on track and delivered to deadline

This role includes weekend work, attending events to cheer on our participants (don’t worry – no desks involved!). You’ll receive time off in lieu, and a full UK driving licence is preferred.

Please note: All candidates will be subject to a criminal record check, paid for by Macmillan. Any existing enhancements must be declared.

About you

  • Experience in marketing, communications, fundraising or campaign support
  • Familiarity with online design tools (such as Canva) to support the creation of engaging supporter communications
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail
  • Confidence in communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders, building positive and productive working relationships
  • A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams
  • Confidence working with data, using insights to inform decisions and improve logistical planning
  • A genuine enthusiasm for delivering high-quality supporter experiences and driving engagement
