KGM offer a complete service to its clients including consultation, design, installation and maintenance delivering projects across the UK.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cladding Estimator to join the KGM team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for cladding, façade, roofing, and building envelope projects. This role involves reviewing tender documents, measuring quantities, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting the business in securing profitable work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for cladding, façade, roofing, rainscreen, insulated panel, and associated building envelope works.
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and employer’s requirements to understand project scope.
- Carry out take-offs and quantity measurements from drawings, specifications, and digital models where applicable.
- Obtain, review, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender submissions, pricing schedules, cost breakdowns, clarifications, and value engineering proposals.
- Liaise with clients, main contractors, architects, consultants, suppliers, and internal project teams.
- Identify commercial risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities within tender packages.
- Support handover meetings for successful tenders and provide clear cost information to deliver.
- Maintain estimating records, supplier rates, pricing databases, and historical project cost information.
- Keep up to date with cladding systems, materials, compliance requirements, market rates, and industry best practice.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in an estimating role within cladding, façades, roofing, curtain walling, rainscreen, or specialist subcontracting.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and façade drawings.
- Good understanding of cladding systems, fixings, interfaces, access requirements, logistics, and construction sequencing.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to price works accurately and competitively.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating or take-off software.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet tender deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider commercial and project delivery team.
Qualifications
- A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Surveying, Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline is desirable.
- Equivalent industry experience within cladding, façades, roofing, or building envelope works will also be considered.
- Knowledge of UK construction standards, health and safety requirements, fire performance considerations, and building regulations is advantageous.
This is a full time, permanent position to be based at our offices in Fengate, Peterborough. Hours of work are Monday – Friday 0800 – 1700. Salary will be based on experience. Benefits include annual pay reviews and discretionary bonuses, profit related pay, health care cash back plan, 31 days holiday including Bank Holidays, Life Assurance, contributory Pension plus study opportunities for continuous learning and development.
