About the Team:
Our Commercial & Pricing function exists to shape and support how our firm engages with clients commercially. We drive profitability and growth through innovative, and data led pricing strategies that balance client value with business performance. We help with Partners with designing commercial solutions that anticipate market change, foster relationships and position the firm’s ability to deliver both legal expertise and measurable value.
The team sits within the Finance Department, which supports all aspects of the firm’s financial requirements from the provision of strategic support through to detailed transactional processing, with a key focus on providing excellent customer service to our internal and external clients. The department is comprised of a central finance team (based in London, Belfast, Manchester and Cardiff) plus the local finance team in Hong Kong. This role would be involved in pricing and profitability initiatives across all of the firms’ offices.
About the Role:
The role reports into the Commercial and Pricing Lead. This is a unique opportunity to join the firm in a newly established and growing pricing function. Over the past year, the firm has laid the groundwork for a dedicated pricing capability, and this role will be instrumental in building on that foundation. The Senior Pricing Analyst will work at the intersection of finance and business development, providing data-driven insights that support fee proposals, matter budgeting, and strategic pricing decisions across the firm's practice groups.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of competitive, commercially sound pricing proposals for new and existing client mandates. This will involve analysing historical matter data, utilisation rates, and financial performance to inform pricing recommendations and to identify trends that can improve profitability and client value.
- The role will require the preparation of detailed financial models and scenario analyses for alternative fee arrangements, including fixed fees, capped fees, blended rates, and success-based structures. The Pricing Analyst will translate complex financial data into clear, concise narratives and visual presentations that can be readily understood by non-financial stakeholders, including partners and clients.
- Working closely with partners and business development colleagues, the Pricing Analyst will contribute to pitch and panel submissions by developing bespoke pricing strategies. The successful candidate will also assist in building and maintaining pricing tools, templates, and dashboards that support consistent and efficient pricing across the firm.
- As the pricing function continues to mature, the Pricing Analyst will play a key role in embedding pricing discipline into the firm's culture, including contributing to training, best-practice guidance, and internal communications on pricing matters.
About You:
You will need to have a professional manner, excellent articulation and interpersonal skills, and have a minimum of two years working in a law firm. You’ll also possess strong numerical skills and have a good sense of attention to detail, which will be key within this role. We are looking for someone who can take initiative to assist with establishing processes and workflows where none currently exist.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum of two years+ related experience preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
- Strong Excel skills (including Lookup, Pivot and Chart functions), data extraction and analysis techniques, and experience with practice management/accounting systems (e.g. 3E/SAP).
- Proactive communicator who identifies and implements process improvements.
- Knowledge of law firm Financial Management System, such as 3E would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Legal Industry KPIs and competitive landscape preferred.
- Experience in Procurement or RFP response.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, balanced with a pragmatic approach to delivery.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and build working relationships across the Firm.
- Protect and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude.
- Results and delivery driven with a commitment to quality of work.
- Comfortable in asking questions and for seeking help and support as needed.
- Takes ownership and actively looks for personal learning and development opportunities.
- Flexible nature and willingness to adapt and take on additional duties as the business evolves.
