The Group Exercise Instructor provides safe, effective, and engaging group fitness instruction in support of the Dover Air Force Base Fitness Center. Services are delivered on-site and include instruction across a variety of group fitness formats in accordance with approved class schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct approved group exercise classes including, but not limited to, low-impact and high-intensity aerobics, kickboxing, indoor cycling, Pilates, yoga, and Extreme Fitness.
- Deliver instruction for beginner, intermediate, and advanced fitness levels as directed by the Fitness Center Director.
- Arrive no later than 10 minutes prior to scheduled class time and sign in with the Fitness Center.
- Ensure proper set-up and breakdown of exercise rooms and return all equipment to its designated location after each class.
- Use safe, effective exercise techniques and provide appropriate instruction, motivation, and class oversight.
- Provide and manage appropriate music for classes, ensuring content is free of offensive or inappropriate language.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Group Exercise Instructor certification from an Air Force–accepted certifying organization (e.g., ACE, ACSM, AFAA, ISSA, NETA, WITS, or equivalent).
- Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or the American Red Cross.
- Ability to safely lead group fitness activities in a structured, professional environment.
