About Lamont & Co Estates is a residential lettings and property management business based in Birmingham. It is known for a professional, proactive and accountable service to landlords and tenants, and for treating customer care as the job rather than an add on.
The business is part of the developer backed Prosperity Group, which gives it a steady flow of new stock and a direct relationship with an international investor base. Lamont & Co currently manages around 1,300 units and expects to reach around 2,500 by the end of 2028. With 20 to 30 building projects in the group's pipeline, that growth is already planned and under construction.
The business is now building the structure for its next stage of growth, and the people who join now will help shape it.
The Opportunity Lamont & Co is looking for a Portfolio Manager to take full ownership of a portfolio of approximately 120 to 150 residential units across Birmingham, Dudley and the surrounding area. This is a genuine all round role. You will let the properties yourself, look after the landlords yourself, and be accountable for every part of the portfolio, delivered to a hospitality standard of service.
The successful candidate will:
- Take full ownership of the portfolio as the main point of contact for landlords, from onboarding new landlords and properties to reporting directly to clients
- Handle the lettings process in person, including Rightmove advertising, enquiries, accompanied viewings, selecting applicants, offers and all paperwork
- Manage referencing, Right to Rent checks, tenancy agreements, deposit registration and move ins
- Put properties back on the market as soon as notice is served, keeping landlords informed and reassured until the property is re-let
- Carry out six monthly inspections and six monthly service calls with every landlord
- Keep landlords updated proactively on arrears and maintenance, working alongside the credit controller and maintenance team as the point of escalation
- Keep every property compliant, including gas safety, EICR, EPC, licensing, fire safety and Renters’ Rights legislation
- Manage renewals, rent reviews, check outs and deposit resolution
- Resolve complaints professionally and address the root cause
- Take on new units as new buildings complete and join the portfolio
The Role The purpose of this role is to run a portfolio end to end, combining the urgency of lettings with the knowledge and care of property management. The role is office based in Birmingham five days a week, reporting to the Portfolio Director, with a salary set above typical lettings and property management levels.
The Ideal Candidate The preferred candidate will have the following experience:
- Residential lettings and property management experience, ideally from a boutique agency where you have done a bit of everything, or from Build to Rent
- Experience across the full tenancy lifecycle, including viewings and inspections
- Confident knowledge of lettings legislation, including pre move in compliance (gas safety, EICR and EPC), notice periods and the Renters’ Rights Act
- Commercially minded, combining the urgency of lettings with the knowledge and care of property management
- A customer service led, hospitality style approach to looking after landlords
- Resilient under pressure and professional at all times, including when delivering difficult news
- Highly organised and able to work independently, planning your own diary around viewings, inspections and calls
- ARLA Propertymark qualification (or working towards it), Reapit experience and HMO knowledge are advantageous
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Able to work from the Birmingham office five days a week
Why Join Lamont & Co? You get a portfolio that is genuinely yours, with direct relationships with an international investor base and a salary that reflects that responsibility. You also get the backing of a developer led group with a clear pipeline, so the portfolio and the business are growing around you. It is a close knit team where customer care comes first, and there is a real chance to help shape how the business operates as it scales.
Benefits include a company pension scheme and business mileage reimbursed at 55p per mile.
