Site-Based Electrical Engineer Task Management
- Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
Schedule and execute regular maintenance activities to ensure electrical systems operate safely and efficiently. Track completion dates, record findings, and escalate issues requiring immediate attention. Key PPM activities include:
- Testing emergency lighting systems monthly
- Inspecting fire alarm panels and detectors quarterly
- Testing backup generators under load conditions
- Verifying UPS battery health and capacity
- Thermographic surveys of electrical distribution boards annually
- Portable appliance testing according to risk assessment schedules
- Checking motor control centers and starter panels
- Inspecting cable containment and trunking systems
- Testing residual current devices and circuit breakers
- Maintaining building management system integration points
Maintain accurate records of all inspections, test certificates, and compliance documentation. Update asset registers with equipment condition ratings and recommend replacements when equipment approaches end of service life.
- Reactive Works
Respond promptly to electrical failures, faults, and emergency situations. Prioritise based on safety risk and business impact, ensuring critical systems remain operational. Common reactive tasks include:
