The role… We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Nottingham office. This Electrical Engineering role forms part of our practicewide Building Services Engineering discipline and will require a high level of both design knowledge and project lead experience. The primary focus of this team is MoD and MoJ projects across the UK. Please Note: Due to the nature of the work undertaken successful applicants will need to have active UK SC Clearance or the ability to gain UK SC clearance.

The selected candidate will… Work as part of the Building Services team, reporting to and supported by the Associate team lead. Ensure all projects are completed to a high technical standard, on time and on budget. Assist more junior staff with technical queries as appropriate to your knowledge and experience. Carry out fee earning work, including feasibility, design or site stage work where appropriate and particularly where high-level technical expertise is required. Meet with clients to establish project brief and budget costs for client consideration. Draw up detailed specifications and drawings against client’s briefs. Review tenders received and prepare tender reports and recommendations. Project manage site works from commencement to completion. Monitor site works against specification requirements and agree contractor’s final accounts. Carry out inspections of existing installations and submit condition reports. Check and prepare information for fee invoicing each month. Manage day to day workload of individuals reporting directly to you, ensuring clarification of their roles, motivation of the team and wellbeing of individuals. Advise director and partners on any additional resources required, assisting at interview stage. Develop the client base of the Practice by being proactive in pursuing marketing opportunities that arise and ensuring repeat business from satisfied clients.

Essential skills, experience, and attributes… Degree/Masters degree in Engineering. Member of CIBSE, IET or equivalent. Chartered Engineer status or approaching. Experience of managing junior engineers. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit and use of design software such as Amtech. Familiar with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, building regulations and best practice, including sustainability requirements.
