The Practice

The organisation is an independent accounting and advisory firm operating across Central Scotland. With a focus on offering tailored services, they work with businesses of all sizes, from owner-managed to multi-national companies, across various sectors including healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and charities.

The Role

This role offers the opportunity to lead audits from planning through completion while managing client relationships and mentoring junior team members. You'll work closely with responsible individuals to ensure high-quality delivery within scope and budget. The position involves overseeing multiple audits, designing controls tests, and advising clients on improvements. You will also prepare statutory accounts and corporation tax computations, contributing to overall firm growth.

  • Lead audits in sectors such as healthcare, construction, and charities.
  • Manage audit planning, coordination, and review activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Guide junior staff, providing feedback and technical training.
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently and within deadlines.
  • Draft and review audit reports, statutory accounts, and tax computations.

The Person

You will bring a strong technical background and leadership experience in practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to quality service and team development, with the ability to work independently.

Mandatory:

  • Qualified ACA/ICAS or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years’ audit experience.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or team leader experience.
  • Solid knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS standards.
  • Proficiency with audit software (e.g., CaseWare, CCH) and Excel.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with charities or SMEs.
  • Knowledge of GDPR compliance and IFRS reporting.
  • CPA or part-qualified ACCA.
  • Exposure to diverse sectors and audit methodologies.
