North West Training Council (NWTC) is looking for an experienced and motivated Head of Quality to lead and support high standards in teaching, learning and assessment across the organisation.

As Head of Quality, you will take the lead in developing and delivering the organisation’s quality strategy, helping to ensure excellent standards across all curriculum areas. You will promote a culture of high expectations, continuous improvement and good practice, while making sure NWTC meets all relevant quality and regulatory requirements.

You will work closely with senior leaders, curriculum teams and staff to improve teaching, assessment, learner engagement and achievement. You will also oversee quality assurance activities, staff development and preparations for inspections, accreditation visits and reporting requirements.

This is a senior leadership role that requires strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, along with experience of quality assurance in further education, training or a similar educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement NWTC's Quality Strategy, promoting consistently high standards in teaching, learning and assessment across the organisation.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives, supporting curriculum teams to enhance teaching practice, assessment, learner engagement and outcomes.
• Design and oversee quality assurance processes including self-assessment, internal reviews, audits, compliance checks and standardisation.
• Monitor quality, learner outcomes, apprentice performance and progression data to identify strengths, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Lead professional development, mentoring and coaching to support staff and leaders in raising standards and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
• Work with senior leaders, learners, awarding bodies, external agencies and regulatory partners to ensure compliance, support external inspections and drive organisational improvement.

Criteria

• Proven experience in a senior quality role within further education, training or education.
• Deep understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment practices.
• Strong knowledge of quality assurance frameworks and regulatory expectations, including Ofsted and awarding organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change, build high-performing teams and influence at all levels.
• Excellent analytical, communication and coaching skills.
• A proven track record of driving measurable improvement in educational quality and learner outcomes.
• Strong strategic thinking, quality assurance and compliance expertise.
• A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
• Excellent relationship management, innovation and problem-solving skills.
• Teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or QTLS is desirable.
• Experience of shaping professional development programmes is desirable.
• Knowledge of digital learning, emerging pedagogy and innovation in curriculum design is desirable.
