Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking further education college in Surrey, is seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Additional Learning Support (ALS) to lead its inclusive learning support provision.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for learners with additional needs.
Working closely with senior leaders, you will play a key role in shaping the organisation's SEND strategy, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring every learner receives the support they need to succeed.
The Opportunity
As Head of ALS, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Additional Learning Support services, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and student-centred provision.
You'll lead the development of inclusive practice across the college while working collaboratively with curriculum teams, parents, local authorities and external agencies.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading and developing the Additional Learning Support team.
- Driving the college's SEND strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Overseeing High Needs provision, EHCPs and Exam Access Arrangements.
- Ensuring compliance with SEND legislation, JCQ regulations and funding requirements.
- Using data and quality assurance processes to improve learner outcomes and maximise funding opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support student success.
About You
We're looking for a confident and compassionate leader with
- Significant experience within SEND or Additional Learning Support, ideally in a leadership capacity.
- A Level 5 SEND qualification (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of High Needs funding, EHCPs and Exam Access Arrangements.
- Experience leading teams, managing complex learner support and working with external agencies.
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- A genuine commitment to inclusive education and improving learner outcomes.
