The role
You'll have overall responsibility for the Group's estates, facilities and clinical equipment. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role where you'll:
- Lead estates strategy, budget and monthly reporting to the senior leadership team
- Own statutory compliance and PPM across every site, including fire, water hygiene, gas, electrical, asbestos, LOLER and medical gases, to CQC and HTM/HBN standards
- Manage the full lifecycle of clinical equipment, from specification and procurement through to calibration and disposal
- Appoint and manage contractors, holding them to SLAs and making sure RAMS and permits are in place
- Act as the senior estates voice in new business: site searches, modular design, costing, MEP review and sign-off before new services go live
- Lead our Carbon Reduction Plan and NHS Net Zero commitments
- Line manage and develop our Estates & Facilities Manager
What you'll bring
- 5+ years in a senior estates or facilities role, ideally in UK healthcare (NHS or independent sector)
- Multi-site compliance and PPM experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely
- A degree or equivalent experience in estates, FM, building services or engineering
- The technical confidence to review MEP requirements, drawings and specifications for clinical environments
- Commercial grip: budgets, project costing and challenging contractor quotes
- Experience leading people and reporting at board level
- A full UK driving licence
It would be great if you also have
- Experience with modular or temporary healthcare buildings
- Medical device lifecycle management and knowledge of MHRA requirements
- Carbon reporting experience or IEMA training
- IWFM, RICS, CIBSE or IHEEM membership, or Authorised Person training
- Experience supporting bids, tenders and mobilisations
- Knowledge of commercial leases and dilapidations
