Location: Worcester Salary: £27,000
Working pattern: Hybrid, three days in the office and two days from home
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

Are you an experienced Finance Assistant looking for a broader role with exposure to month-end accounting?
An established and successful organisation based in the Worcester area is looking to recruit a Finance Assistant into its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transactional finance experience who would like to develop their knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and international accounting.
The position offers a varied workload covering purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, expenses, and month-end support. You will work closely with an experienced finance team and have the opportunity to develop your accounting knowledge while taking ownership of several important processes. Your new role
- Processing purchase invoices and maintaining accurate ledger records
- Reviewing the purchase ledger and resolving supplier queries
- Preparing supplier payment runs and ensuring payments are made in line with agreed terms
- Completing daily bank reconciliations
- Supporting the month-end process
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
- Raising intercompany invoices and completing intercompany reconciliations
- Preparing information to support VAT returns
- Producing expenditure analysis and spend-versus-budget reports
- Supporting customer invoice queries and processing approved credit notes
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant or similar position
- Practical experience across purchase ledger, cash book or nominal ledger accounting
- Experience completing bank reconciliations
- An understanding of accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Good Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
- A proactive, flexible and team-focused approach
An AAT qualification or current AAT studies would be advantageous but are not essential. Additional language skills would also be useful, although they are not required. What you'll get in return
