Globe 24-7 is partnering with an international mining company to appoint a Principal Project Planner to support its portfolio of mining operations and development projects across Europe.
The organisation is strengthening its Project Controls capability and is seeking an experienced mining project planning professional who can provide independent scheduling expertise, establish planning standards and support multiple capital projects at different stages of development.
The Role
Reporting to the Director, Project Controls, the Principal Project Planner will lead project planning and scheduling activities across a portfolio of mining capital projects, from Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), Pre-Feasibility (PFS) and Feasibility Studies (FS) through to project execution.
The role combines hands-on schedule development with independent schedule assurance, project controls governance, risk analysis and portfolio reporting.
This is a senior individual contributor position requiring strong technical expertise, independent judgement and the ability to work closely with Owner's Teams, EPCM contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
The position is home-based in the UK or Europe, with travel to mining projects in Bulgaria and Serbia for approximately one to two weeks per month, depending on project requirements.

- Work closely with study teams and engineering consultants to establish realistic project schedules, milestones and interdependencies.
- Provide independent schedule oversight and assurance during project execution.
- Review and challenge EPCM and contractor schedules, including schedule logic, critical paths, float, resource allocation and baseline integrity.
- Conduct critical path analysis, schedule sensitivity assessments and quantitative schedule risk analysis (QSRA).
- Identify schedule deviations, assess potential impacts and recommend corrective actions and mitigation strategies.
- Establish and maintain project planning standards, scheduling procedures, reporting templates and governance frameworks.
- Integrate schedule information with cost, risk and scope data to support portfolio-level project controls and management reporting.
- Provide schedule readiness assessments and planning input into project stage-gate reviews.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor project planners and engineering contractor personnel.
The Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling, with demonstrable experience on mining capital projects.
- Strong experience across mining project studies (PEA, PFS and FS) and execution-phase project scheduling.
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
- Advanced knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM), resource-loaded scheduling, Earned Value Management (EVM) and schedule risk analysis.
- Proven experience independently reviewing and challenging EPCM and contractor schedules.
- Experience establishing project planning standards, systems, procedures and governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of project controls, stage-gate processes, schedule assurance and portfolio reporting.
- Experience working within mining Owner's Teams, EPCM consultancies or major mining project development environments.
- Ability to work independently across multiple projects and engage effectively with senior project stakeholders.
- Underground mining project exposure advantageous.
- AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), PMP or equivalent certification advantageous.
- Must be based in the UK or Europe and willing to travel regularly to Bulgaria and Serbia.
The Rewards
The opportunity offers a competitive remuneration package, home-based working arrangements and regular involvement in international mining capital projects.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a growing Project Controls function, with exposure to mining projects from early-stage studies through construction and execution.
