We're looking for an ambitious Head of Buying & Design to join a major UK retailer and take ownership of its own brand product strategy, driving innovation, developing exciting new collections and building strong international supplier partnerships.

This is much more than a traditional buying role. You'll have the opportunity to shape products from concept to launch, influence brand identity and introduce new ranges that customers genuinely love.

The Role

As Head of Buying & Design , you'll report directly to the Retail Director and lead the development of commercially successful own brand collections.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the buying and product development strategy across multiple categories.

• Identify emerging trends and develop innovative new products and collections.

• Shape brand identity, packaging, product positioning and creative direction.

• Build strong international supplier relationships, including Far East sourcing.

• Identify exciting new brand collaborations and exclusive product opportunities.

• Take ownership of sales, profitability, margins and stock performance.

• Negotiate competitive supplier agreements and drive commercial growth.

• Work closely with creative, marketing and commercial teams to deliver successful product launches.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a confident, commercially focused buying professional who combines strong retail knowledge with a genuine passion for product innovation and design.

You'll ideally bring:

• Proven experience in senior buying, category management or own brand product development.

• A strong track record of delivering commercial growth through successful product ranges.

• Experience with international sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiation.

• An excellent understanding of product design, branding and development.

• Strong financial and analytical skills with experience managing margins and profitability.

• The ability to identify market opportunities and translate trends into successful products.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.

• A creative, entrepreneurial mindset and the confidence to bring fresh ideas to the business.
