Principal Manager – Safety & Compliance An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Manager – Safety & Compliance to join Ipswich Borough Council's Housing Directorate, leading a critical service responsible for ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of approximately 8,000 council homes. With an annual maintenance and investment budget of approximately £25 million, you will lead the Safety & Compliance team, ensuring homes meet all statutory, regulatory and housing standards while delivering a safe environment for tenants. Key Responsibilities: * Lead and oversee housing safety and regulatory compliance across the council's housing stock. * Ensure compliance across the landlord's Big 9 safety areas: Fire, Lifts (LOLER), Emergency Lighting, Alarm Systems, Gas, Damp & Mould, Electrical, Asbestos and Water Safety. * Monitor HHSRS hazards and ensure compliance with Awaab's Law and Decent Homes Standards. * Manage teams, budgets, business planning and operational performance. * Drive continuous improvement, effective risk management and a zero-tolerance approach to compliance failures. About You: * Significant experience in housing safety, compliance or a comparable operational environment. * Experience managing teams, budgets and front-line services. * Strong knowledge of housing regulations, health and safety legislation and statutory compliance. * Relevant degree qualification and/or professional membership. * Proven experience in change management and continuous service improvement.
