The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

As a Modelmaker at Foster + Partners, you will play a vital role in transforming architectural concepts into high-quality physical models for exhibitions, presentations and design exploration. Working closely with architects, designers and the exhibition team, you’ll craft precise, visually compelling models while contributing to the development, organisation and safe handling of model-based displays across the practice.

This role is perfect for you if you want to:

  • Produce high-quality physical models using a wide range of materials, tools and techniques.
  • Interpret architectural drawings to create detailed, accurate scale models.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers and exhibition teams throughout project development.
  • Support the design and organisation of model displays for exhibitions locally and internationally.
  • Recommend materials, contribute to design reviews and provide practical input on fabrication approaches.

What you’ll bring to the studio:

  • Strong model‑making skills with excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using workshop machinery such as saws, drills, sanders, lathes and CNC/laser equipment.
  • Ability to understand architectural information quickly and translate it into built form.
  • Good 2D CAD skills, with basic 3D CAD abilities.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications and skills:

  • HND or degree (or equivalent industry experience) in modelmaking or a related discipline.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety protocols in workshop environments.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • A proactive, flexible and self‑motivated approach to learning and problem‑solving.
  • Resilience, professionalism and the ability to support and guide junior team members.
