Salary: Up to £90,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits
Sector: Main Contracting / New Build Construction / Healthcare
Start Date: ASAP
This is a genuinely unique opportunity for an experienced Planner to join a leading healthcare provider that is creating its own in-house construction delivery team. The organisation operates some of the most prestigious healthcare facilities in the UK and has committed to delivering a long-term programme of major capital investment, with over £500 million of future construction projects already secured. Projects include £50m+ ultra-high-specification new build healthcare facilities, major extensions, specialist medical buildings and associated works. Unlike a traditional main contractor, all projects are delivered within the wider group. This creates a genuinely collaborative environment without the pressures of competitive tendering, unrealistic programmes or low-margin contracting. Instead, the focus is firmly on quality, innovation and delivering exceptional buildings. The first flagship project is a £70m+ new build healthcare facility in the Winchester area, with a substantial pipeline of major developments to follow.
This role is specifically suited to an experienced Main Contractor Planner with strong ASTA Powerproject experience delivering new build building projects. You will be involved from project inception through to completion, developing and managing programmes from the earliest design stages through procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover. Working closely with the Project Directors, Design Team and Construction Teams, you will become a key member of a growing in-house construction division delivering some of the UK’s most technically challenging healthcare projects.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining detailed construction programmes using ASTA Powerproject
- Producing design, procurement, construction and commissioning programmes
- Working with project teams during feasibility and pre-construction
- Developing master programmes across multiple major projects
- Producing short, medium and long-term construction programmes
- Monitoring progress against programme and identifying risks and opportunities
- Producing programme updates and progress reports
- Undertaking site visits to monitor progress and programme performance
- Developing recovery programmes where required
- Reviewing subcontractor and consultant programmes
- Providing programme analysis, sequencing advice and construction methodology input
- Supporting project teams with logistics and resource planning
- Producing reports and presentations for senior stakeholders
- Contributing to project strategy, phasing and delivery planning
The Person:
To be considered, you should possess:
- Previous experience as a Planner working for a Tier 1 or established Main Contractor
- Strong ASTA Powerproject experience (essential)
- Proven experience delivering new build building projects from pre-construction through to completion
- Experience on projects typically valued £30m+
- Strong understanding of building construction methodologies, sequencing and logistics
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work closely with operational, commercial and design teams
This role is NOT suitable for candidates whose background is primarily:
- Civils
- Infrastructure
- Highways
- Rail
- Utilities
- Heavy Engineering
- P6-only Planning
Experience within healthcare, commercial, residential, education or other major building sectors would be highly advantageous.
The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity to join a business at the beginning of an exciting long-term growth journey. With over £500 million of secured future developments, you will become a key member of a specialist construction team delivering some of the highest quality healthcare buildings in the UK. For experienced Main Contractor Planners looking to move away from the pressures of traditional contracting whilst continuing to deliver technically complex, high-value projects, opportunities like this are exceptionally rare.
Additional Information:
- Hybrid working (3 days Swindon office / 1 day home / 1 day site)
- Candidates must already live within approximately one hour of Swindon.
- Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available.
- Applications from candidates without ASTA Powerproject experience or a Main Contractor new build construction background are unlikely to be progressed.
