Responsibilities
- Take ownership of specific network systems and services, ensuring they meet availability, performance, security and supportability standards throughout their lifecycle.
- Maintain smooth operation of services and adhere to agreed SLAs, taking accountability for escalated issues and delivering sustainable resolutions.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to understand requirements and expectations.
- Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders and delivery teams to deliver network solutions that meet business and technical needs.
- Lead technical delivery activities, ensuring solutions are stable, scalable and supportable and aligned with organisational standards.
- Contribute to network design alongside the architecture team, providing input and practical implementation considerations.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to enhance performance, resilience, security and efficiency.
- Proactively identify, assess and remediate security vulnerabilities across the network estate.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance, influencing decisions on improvements, standards and future direction.
- Maintain high‑quality design, implementation and operational documentation to support service stability and knowledge sharing.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Experienced network engineer level with demonstrated ownership of network systems, operational support and service improvements.
- Experience supporting enterprise‑scale network environments, including operational and delivery responsibilities.
- Track record of leading delivery across project and service lifecycles, resolving complex issues and driving improvements to live services.
- Comfortable working across a broad range of network technologies and disciplines.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within structured service and change management processes.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, both technical and non‑technical.
- Technical Minimum Criteria
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco networking technologies (routing and switches Nexus and Catalyst, SD‑WAN, Wireless, remote access solutions such as Cisco Secure Client/Any Connect and ASAv).
- Experience with enterprise cloud networking, ideally Microsoft Azure Iaa S; equivalent experience with other major cloud providers accepted.
- Solid understanding of IP routing protocols and data centre network architectures (OSPF, MP‑BGP, VXLAN, EVPN).
- Experience supporting network security technologies (firewalls, Cisco ISE, etc.) and managing core network services (DNS, NTP, DHCP).
- Knowledge or interest in automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM).
