About the role

BAE Systems (Land Sector) is looking for a Product Development Engineer to support the development and delivery of defence products at their Glascoed site. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on technical documentation, trials activity, safety compliance paperwork, and configuration management.

  • Location: Glascoed, Monmouthshire (NP15 1XL) - on-site
  • Contract length: 12 months
  • Working pattern: 37 hours over 4 days (Mon-Thurs 07:15-17:00, Friday off)
  • IR35: Inside IR35
  • Rate: £38.25/hr Umbrella
  • Headcount: 1

Responsibilities

  • Produce and manage technical product specifications
  • Write and review technical reports and supporting engineering documentation
  • Plan, support, and document product trials
  • Create and maintain safety paperwork, ensuring adherence to safety protocols
  • Support/maintain configuration management activities and documentation
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support delivery across the product development lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance to relevant standards, procedures, and regulations

Required experience / skills

  • Strong technical engineering capability (hands-on, practical approach)
  • Proven experience with:
    • Technical report writing
    • Specification writing
    • Supporting or running trials
    • Producing safety documentation / working to safety procedures
    • Configuration management (processes, documentation, control)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Defence/regulated engineering experience preferred
