The role: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with special educational needs to achieve their full potential. Working within a vibrant and inclusive SEN school, you’ll provide tailored support to children and young people with Autism/ASC, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).
Your responsibilities:
- Delivering individualised support: Work closely with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised learning plans, ensuring that each student’s unique needs and abilities are supported.
- Creating a stimulating environment: Assist in creating a nurturing, engaging, and creative learning environment that inspires students to explore, learn, and grow.
- Encouraging communication: Use communication aids such as Makaton and PECS to help students express themselves, while promoting their confidence and independence.
- Supporting classroom activities: Help facilitate lessons and activities that are both educational and enjoyable, adapting them as needed to ensure inclusivity for all students.
- Providing personal care: Offer compassionate support with daily care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, to ensure the well-being and comfort of every child.
- Building relationships: Develop strong and trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and positive atmosphere within the school.
- Monitoring progress: Observe and document student progress, sharing insights with teachers and therapists to continuously improve their learning experience.
