A leading specialist contractor operating within the UK water sector is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects and driving strong financial performance from contract award through to final account.

You'll play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure projects, working closely with operational teams to maximise value, manage risk, and ensure successful project outcomes.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the full commercial management of multiple projects, including:

  • Taking commercial ownership of projects from tender handover through to final account.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting, and financial performance.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities while implementing mitigating actions.
  • Administering contracts and managing contractual obligations.
  • Preparing and negotiating subcontract agreements and supplier packages.
  • Assessing and managing project variations, compensation events, and change control.
  • Producing accurate commercial reports and forecasts for senior stakeholders.
  • Supporting operational teams with cost awareness and commercial best practice.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts, payments, and final accounts.
  • Ensuring commercial compliance and governance procedures are maintained.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Proven experience managing the full commercial lifecycle of construction, engineering, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and commercial reporting skills.
  • Excellent understanding of contract administration and commercial controls.
  • The ability to lead commercial discussions with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks, opportunities, and cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with operational, procurement, finance, and delivery teams.
  • A commitment to delivering high standards of commercial performance and continuous improvement.
  • Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent industry experience.
