Do you have practical experience drafting or checking costs bills and want to develop your expertise in a supportive, busy Costs team?
EMG Solicitors is recruiting a Law Costs Draftsperson to help manage increased costs work across our Court of Protection Property and Affairs department and the wider firm. This is an opportunity to build on your existing experience, take responsibility for your work and develop your knowledge of costs recovery.
What you’ll do
- Draft and check Bills of Costs and supporting costs documents.
- Help progress bills through service, assessment and recovery.
- Support the preparation of Points of Dispute and Replies, final costs documentation and billing records.
- Work with the Costs team and fee earners across the firm to move matters forward.
- Liaise with external contacts as needed and provide clear updates on costs work.
What we’re looking for
- Previous, hands-on experience preparing or checking costs bills. This is not an entry-level or trainee role.
- Good organisation, accuracy and the ability to manage deadlines
- A collaborative approach and confidence communicating with colleagues and external contacts.
- Legal Aid or private client costs experience is useful.
A relevant legal qualification or Costs Lawyer qualification is desirable, but not essential. Practical experience and a willingness to keep developing are what matter most.
