We are looking for a Design Technician to join a very experienced team, working on a range of glazing projects in the commercial building sector. Support and training would be provided to enable the successful candidate to grow and develop in the role.
PURPOSE
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience working in a design role within a commercial or glazed partitioning environment would be advantageous.
- Create 2D designs.
- Use standard designs to help prepare assembly instructions and maintenance manuals for installation.
- To ensure buildability, safety, cost, and access are considered when producing designs.
- To liaise with internal departments to ensure client requirements are fully understood and compliant.
- To ensure all plans and drawings are in line with the specification, acoustic and fire requirements.
- To ensure client drawing protocol is complied with where applicable and upload to the project portals.
- To coordinate interface detailing with other fit out trades is pivotal to the role.
- Follow design processes and update project files.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Excellent knowledge of design software including AutoCad.
- Previous experience of working with architects plans and drawings as well as manufacturing details and requisitions.
- Understanding of setting out from datums and gridlines.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to come up with practical solutions.
- Ability to convert verbal and written information into 2D and 3D drawings with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good communications skills.
- Efficient and well organised.
