About the role

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (DOE)

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing schedules for commercial construction projects.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Carry out quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the tender process.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documents.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, costs, and pricing data.
  • Support project handovers to operational teams upon successful tender awards.
  • Monitor market trends, material costs, and labour rates.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry.
  • Strong experience working on commercial property projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience pricing refurbishment, fit-out, and new-build commercial projects.
  • Knowledge of JCT contracts and construction procurement methods.
