Welder / Fabricator
Location: Across London and surrounding areas
Salary: Competitive / Negotiable (depending on experience)
Role:
We are hiring on behalf of our clients, who include structural steelwork companies, architectural metalwork manufacturers, and engineering workshops. Because specific duties can vary heavily from workshop production to on-site structural installations, we are looking for skilled Welders / Fabricators capable of fabricating, modifying, and joining metal components to precise engineering standards.
Responsibilities
β’ Fabricate, assemble, and weld structural steel, architectural metalwork (stairs, balustrades, handrails), or plate work according to technical engineering drawings.
β’ Cut, shape, drill, and prep metal sections using workshop machinery such as guillotines, bandsaws, grinders, and mag-drills.
β’ Measure and check fabrications against drawings to ensure strict quality control, tight tolerances, and accurate alignment.
β’ Carry out structural or cosmetic welding to high standards, executing necessary weld testing and cleaning finishes.
β’ Maintain a clean, hazard-free workshop or site environment, ensure proper ventilation and extraction are used, and strictly adhere to all health and safety guidelines, RAMS, and protective equipment regulations.
Requirements
β’ Proven experience working as a Welder, Fabricator, or Welder-Fabricator in a workshop or construction site environment.
β’ CSCS Card
β’ Health & Safety: A full and thorough understanding of engineering health and safety regulations, including safe handling of compressed gases, hot works permits, flash/arc protection, fume extraction, and proper use of RPE/PPE.
β’ Qualifications (Desirable): Valid coding certificates (BS EN ISO 9606 or ASME IX) and an NVQ Level 2/3 in Fabrication and Welding.
β’ Tools: Possession of your own basic fabrication hand tools and welding mask/PPE.

β’ MIG / MAG (GMAW): High-production structural and architectural steel fabrication.
β’ TIG (GTAW): High-precision welding on stainless steel, aluminum, or thin-gauge metals.
β’ MMA / Stick (SMAW): On-site structural steel alterations, modifications, and positional welding.
β’ Materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel, structural steel beams, and aluminum.
