A unique opportunity has opened up for a technically minded Registered Building Inspector with an interest in being remote based, to join a forward-thinking local authority in a senior, technical position that focuses on plan checking delivery, supervision, and mentoring.
This opportunity is ideal for a Senior-level professional looking to step into an impactful role centred around technical oversight and quality assurance. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards across the service, whilst also delivering results across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Alongside your technical responsibilities, you will support the ongoing development of colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical supervision and review of inspection reports, site records, and associated documentation.
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with current Building Regulations, legislation, and professional standards.
- Undertake plan assessments across a range of projects including residential, commercial, and more complex developments.
- Produce clear and accurate plan check reports and compliance advice.
- Mentor and support colleagues on technical matters, particularly on more complex cases.
- Monitor quality, consistency, and performance across reporting and inspections.
- Identify areas of risk or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical queries.
- Contribute to team development and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Registered Building Inspector (Class 2F preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong experience in plan checking within building control.
- In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Act, and associated legislation.
- Strong communication skills with an approachable and supportive style.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities.
- Comfortable working with a range of IT systems and document management platforms.
