We're looking for a proactive and hands-on Plant & Asset Controller to manage the movement, maintenance, compliance, and utilisation of plant, tools, and operational equipment across our national operations.
This is a field-based role where you'll work closely with operational teams, depots, and suppliers to ensure assets are safe, compliant, cost-effective, and available when needed.
What You'll Do
- Manage the tracking, allocation, transfer, and recovery of plant and equipment.
- Coordinate repairs, servicing, calibrations, inspections, and LOLER requirements.
- Conduct depot audits and maintain accurate asset records.
- Monitor hired equipment and manage off-hires to control costs.
- Investigate missing, damaged, or non-compliant assets.
- Liaise with suppliers to arrange maintenance, collections, and deliveries.
- Maintain compliance documentation and asset management systems.
- Support wider Fleet and Transport operations when required.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- Experience in plant, fleet, asset, logistics, workshop, or operational support environments.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance, inspections, and compliance requirements.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience conducting audits and maintaining accurate records.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and asset management systems.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK.
Desirable
- Forklift Licence.
- LOLER awareness.
- Plant loading and securing experience.
- Excavator/Digger competency.
- Knowledge of telematics or asset tracking systems.
