About the role

  • 2 months contract with a Local Authority
  • Job Purpose

To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to adults with care and support needs, promoting independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing.

The Support Worker will assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, social engagement, and emotional support while ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with personal care including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal assistance.
  • Promote independence and encourage service users to make informed choices about their daily lives.
  • Assist with social, recreational, and therapeutic activities both within the centre and the local community.
  • Support individuals in maintaining relationships with family, friends, and community networks.
  • Administer or assist with medication in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, care notes, incident reports, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and report any changes in individuals' health, wellbeing, or behaviour.
  • Participate in domestic duties to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Conduct regular observations and ensure the safety and welfare of service users.
  • Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and mandatory training.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies.

Experience

Essential

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and person-centred support.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a residential, community, day centre, or adult social care setting.
  • Experience supporting adults with disabilities, learning difficulties, mental health needs, or complex care requirements.
  • Experience contributing to care plans and risk assessments.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety practices within a care environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Commitment to undertaking mandatory training and professional development.
  • Willingness to complete role-specific vocational training as required.

Desirable

  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Medication Administration Training.
  • Moving and Handling Training.
  • Safeguarding Adults Training.
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • Fire Safety Awareness Training.

Pay Rate

  • £16.43 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Must be willing to work flexibly to meet service needs.
  • Physical duties may include moving and handling activities following appropriate training.
  • Commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults and promoting their wellbeing at all times.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and training as required.
