A leading and highly regulated organisation is looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join its Finance function for a 12-month maternity cover.

This is a visible and influential role, partnering with senior management and budget holders to provide financial insight, constructive challenge and forward-looking analysis that supports business performance and strategic decision-making.

You will play a key role in strengthening financial accountability, improving management information and ensuring financial decisions are aligned with organisational priorities, governance requirements and value-for-money principles.

The Role

As Finance Business Partner, you will

  • Partner with senior stakeholders and budget holders, providing clear and commercially focused financial insight and challenge.
  • Lead monthly performance reviews, including variance and trend analysis, identifying key risks, opportunities and performance drivers.
  • Support annual budgeting, in-year forecasting and longer-term financial planning.
  • Develop financial models and undertake scenario analysis to assess the impact of key decisions, pressures and investment opportunities.
  • Provide financial input into business cases, investment decisions and wider organisational initiatives.
  • Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards and management information to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Promote strong financial control and governance, ensuring activity remains within approved budgets and policies.
  • Contribute to improvements in finance processes, reporting and systems, including the use of automation and business intelligence tools.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and support wider Finance and FP&A priorities as required.

Essential experience

You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualified experience and a strong track record within finance business partnering, FP&A, management reporting or a related commercial finance environment.

  • Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and performance reporting.
  • The ability to translate complex financial and operational information into clear, actionable insight.
  • Experience supporting strategic planning, business cases, investment appraisal and scenario modelling.
  • Confidence partnering with senior stakeholders and non-finance colleagues, with the ability to challenge constructively and influence decisions.
  • Strong Excel and financial systems/data skills, ideally including experience with reporting or business intelligence tools.
  • A good understanding of financial controls, governance and working within a regulated or accountability-focused environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to operate effectively at senior level.
