Are you an organised and driven programme professional looking to take the next step in your career? We're working with a leading UK infrastructure organisation to recruit an Assistant Programme Manager to join a high-profile digital infrastructure team delivering complex, large-scale projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established Programme Management Office (PMO), supporting the successful planning, monitoring and delivery of major projects from pre-construction through to completion. You'll work closely with experienced Programme Managers and Project Managers, gaining exposure to nationally significant programmes while developing your own career within a supportive and ambitious environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Programme Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining project programmes, tracking progress, producing management reports and ensuring projects remain on schedule. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across multiple disciplines, providing programme analysis and supporting informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and update project schedules across pre-construction and construction phases.
  • Monitor contractor performance against approved baseline programmes.
  • Track project progress, identify delays and highlight programme risks.
  • Produce weekly and monthly programme reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain project trackers and ensure programme information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Support programme reviews and attend project progress meetings.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to gather programme updates.
  • Assist in monitoring project documentation and key delivery milestones.
  • Provide programme analysis to support successful project delivery.

About You

We're looking for someone with strong planning and organisational skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment. You'll ideally have:

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or similar project management qualification.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Experience using MS Project, Asta Powerproject or similar planning software.
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of programme impacts on cost, risk and project delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to UK project sites and regional offices when required.
  • Eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance (or already hold DV clearance).
