As home to the largest Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Principal Treatment Centre in the North, we provide innovative, compassionate care to over 350 young people across inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory settings.

Responsibilities
- Provide clinical assessment and support to the care and treatment of a diverse caseload of patients requiring oncology/haematology input and transplant.
- Demonstrate highly specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of patients with oncological/haematological malignancies and those requiring transplant.
- Demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge and skills in the acute care and management of patients receiving SACT.
- Provide medical support to the inpatient, day unit and ambulatory care units at The Christie Foundation Trust.
- Request investigations, procedures and make appropriate referrals maintaining relevant clinical records.
- Non‑medical prescribing is fundamental in supporting this role.
- Clinical examination skills are essential for this role.
- Provide clinical expertise for developing and enhancing the TYA oncology, haematology and transplant service.
- Work alongside the medical, AHP and nursing teams, maintaining good communication and collaboration between the various multidisciplinary teams.
- Be a highly visible and approachable role model, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the clinical areas.
- Demonstrate a high commitment to the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice which includes Clinical practice, Education, Leadership and Management, and Research.
- Provide advanced and specialist level comprehensive assessments for patients with highly complex presentations and case management, treatment and education, predominantly within the setting of the service line and extending into inpatient and clinic settings where required.
- Supervise and support clinical staff and trainee advanced practitioners within the service line as an associate workplace supervisor and, where qualified, as a coordinating education supervisor.
- Provide education and development in the delivery of core and specialist training for the service line.
- Support a culture of continuous quality improvement, develop clinical practice and care pathways, review delivery of care regularly ensuring CQC compliance and embedding NICE and other quality benchmarks in good practice.
- Assist in embedding evidence‑based practice, support a research portfolio for studies within the service line and recruit patients for studies in fields relevant to clinical practice.
- Promote and support patient and public involvement in research.
- Assist in and undertake local and national audits.
- Identify and support implementation of service improvement plans.
- Work across the inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory settings as required; the role may in the future incorporate weekends and bank holidays working.
Qualifications
- Registered professional (e. g., NMC/HCPC)
- Educated to MSc Degree Level7 in advanced practice or equivalent
- NHSE Digital Staff badge demonstrating AP accreditation with The Centre for Advancing Practice
- IRM(E)R trained (where relevant to professional background and role)
- Blood product prescriber (where relevant to professional background and role)
- Non‑medical prescriber (where relevant to professional background and role)
- Teaching and assessing qualification
- Relevant research qualification – e. g., Good Clinical Practice
- Recognized leadership and management course
- Completion of relevant extended role scope competencies
- Experience of a senior professional role in relevant clinical specialty
- Enhanced clinical skills relevant to area of clinical practice
- Experience managing own caseload of patients as an independent practitioner
- Experience of implementing evidence‑based practice
- Experience of working in partnership with multi‑disciplinary teams
- Experience in undertaking audit, quality improvement and service evaluation
- Experience of teaching and supervising undergraduate students and registered staff
- Experience of teaching and presenting at conference or other external meeting
- Experience of analysis and reporting of data
- Clinical experience of leading health care services within specialty

The Christie TYA &haematology service acts as a tertiary referral centre for the management of patients with oncology, haematological malignancies and bone marrow failure.
Inpatient haematology and transplant services for both adults and teenage and young adult (TYA) patients are provided by the 31‑bedded Palatine Treatment Ward and the 4‑bedded Withington Ward.
Outpatient TYA oncology/haematology services are provided by the TYA Day Unit, Haematology and Transplant Day Unit (HTDU) and the ambulatory care facility.
The Christie TYA &haematology service has grown extensively over the past few years with the development of new treatments and CART.
