About the role

Looking for a salaried GP role where you can do your best work, feel genuinely supported, and enjoy being part of a great team. 25 appointments per day when not Duty Doctor – a workload designed to be safe and sustainable. Protected admin time with PCN paramedics supports home visits. Limited documents through a streamlined workflow and experienced admin support. Prescriptions are shared fairly across the GP team. A total triage system is already embedded and working well.

A team that actually feels like a team. Bi‑weekly morning huddles provide a space to catch up, share cases, and support each other. Monthly Lunch & Learn sessions. Training practice with regular GP trainees. Experienced nursing team independently managing Diabetes, COPD and Asthma.

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for providing medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care while complying with the GMS contract. The post‑holder will adhere to GMC standards for good medical practice, contribute to effective practice management, lead by example, and maintain a positive collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Core Responsibilities
  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long‑term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, lab reports, workflow documents, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • Any private work done during the working day (i.e., PMAs, medical reports) will be carried as part of normal duties and all fees received for such remain the property of the Practice
  • In accordance with the practice timetable, the post‑holder will be available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, covering urgent care duties and visiting patients at home
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self‑learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

In general, the post‑holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near‑miss events applying a structured approach (root cause analysis)

  • Safeguarding: Commit to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Security: Maintain vigilance, report suspicious activity. Do not share door lock codes; ensure restricted areas are secured.
  • Service Implementation & Improvement: Assist with safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults; understand legal and communication issues; contribute new ideas; ensure targets are met.
  • Non‑Smoking Policy: Employees are not permitted to smoke or use e‑cigarettes on premises or when outside on official business.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills; competent in Office, Outlook, EMIS/Accurx
  • Effective time management (planning & organising)

  • Qualified GP (MRCGP or equivalent vocational training certificate or equivalent JCPTGP, General Practitioner Certificate of Completion of Training – CCT)
  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of continued professional development, QOF and clinical audit
  • General understanding of the GMS contract, medicines management, Primary Care Networks; full GMC registration; National Performers List registration; appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
