About the role

A global construction consultancy with an established presence in Buckingham is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding cost management team. This is a strong opportunity for a developing surveyor to work on a varied portfolio of projects while gaining the experience and support needed to progress towards chartership.

The successful Assistant Quantity Surveyor will contribute to projects from early cost planning through to final account, supporting senior colleagues with tendering, procurement, valuations, change management, and reporting. You will also attend meetings and site visits, giving you direct exposure to clients, contractors, and wider project teams.

This role would suit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with some consultancy experience who is looking for broader project involvement, increased responsibility, and a clear development pathway within a professional and well-resourced business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with cost plans, estimates, and feasibility studies
  • Preparing tender documents and supporting procurement exercises
  • Helping assess valuations, variations, and contractor applications
  • Producing cost reports and maintaining accurate project records
  • Attending client meetings, progress reviews, and site inspections
  • Supporting final account preparation and project close-out
Candidate Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a UK consultancy or cost management role
  • Exposure to both pre- and post-contract duties
  • Working towards MRICS or keen to begin the APC process
  • Strong communication, numerical, and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach and willingness to take on responsibility
