What’s involved?
Purpose of the role
To lead product design at Boundless, creating accessible, intuitive and engaging digital experiences across web and mobile. As our first dedicated Product Designer, the role will own the end-to-end member experience, use research and testing to inform decisions, and establish the design practices and foundations needed to support the continued development of our digital products.
Main responsibilities
- Be our first dedicated designer. The product has never had design input, so the opportunities are big and visible, and your work will reach members quickly.
- Shape the vision, don't inherit it. We're writing next year's product vision and roadmap now, and you'll help set direction from the start.
- Own the member journey. From onboarding to the everyday journeys and community spaces that turn membership into a habit, across web and mobile, including how community, events, benefits and savings fit together.
- Design for a diverse membership. Our members span different ages, digital confidence levels and accessibility needs. You'll make accessibility a working standard and create experiences that feel intuitive and trustworthy.
- Build the foundations. Set up the pattern library, research practice and design critique your way, keeping member research at the heart of decisions.
- Use modern tools and grow. We actively use AI-powered tools for research, design, prototyping and development. You'll help shape how we use them, and take on leadership responsibilities as the team grows.
What will make you successful?
You will have:
- 5+ years in product design across UX and UI, with proven B2C impact: taking work in-house from ambiguity to shipped, accessible experiences on live consumer products.
- A strong track record designing for mobile apps as well as web, with a deep understanding of native iOS and Android patterns and mobile-first journeys.
- A portfolio that shows your thinking: the problem, the decisions you made and the outcome, including when results were unclear and what you did about it. We care more about your reasoning than how polished your case studies look.
- Expert Figma skills, and curiosity about bringing AI-powered tools into your everyday work.
Great if you also have:
- Experience designing AI-supported features, or as a first or early design hire.
- A background in membership, community, loyalty, benefits or eCommerce products.
- Enough front-end knowledge to prototype in code-adjacent tools.
