Field Service Engineer – Laser Division

- Role Purpose
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of advanced CNC machine tools, including laser tube cutting and flat sheet laser systems.
The role is focused on ensuring both new and existing customers achieve maximum machine uptime, performance, and productivity.
You will provide a level of service support that exceeds customer expectations, be recognised by customers as a trusted technical expert, and act as a key link between customers and the factory on technical matters, including product improvement and development.
The machines supported are high-value systems, typically ranging from £500k to £2.5 million.
Key Responsibilities
- Fault-finding, diagnosis, and repair of CNC machine tools
- Installation, commissioning, and handover of new machines
- Customer training on machine operation and basic maintenance
- After-sales and application support
- Preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Providing technical feedback to internal teams and the factory
- Building strong, professional relationships with customers.
Essential Attributes & Experience
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer supporting CNC machinery
• Strong technical knowledge of
- CNC control systems (Siemens preferred)
- Electrical and electronic systems
- Mechanical engineering
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Minimum HND qualification or time-served engineer status
- Background in machine tools or metal-forming machinery
- Excellent customer-facing skills with a strong service mindset
- Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites in the UK & Ireland
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Attributes & Experience
- Degree-level engineering qualification
- Application knowledge of laser cutting or metal processing
- CAD/CAM understanding
- Strong communication skills.
