Binnies has a growing portfolio of construction projects across a number of our strategic frameworks and we are seeking additional professionals to provide proactive environmental management and compliance support.

Acting as a key environmental contact for project teams, you will support the effective management of environmental risks and opportunities throughout the construction phase, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, client commitments, and industry best practice. The role will involve working closely with construction managers, site teams, contractors, and clients to promote high environmental standards and drive continual improvement in environmental performance.

Key responsibilities will include the preparation, implementation, and review of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and associated environmental documentation; undertaking site inspections, audits, and compliance assessments; monitoring environmental performance; and providing practical advice and guidance to support the successful delivery of projects including identifying opportunities to enhance environmental outcomes for Binnies projects.

The role will also include undertaking Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) duties on behalf of clients, providing independent environmental monitoring and site inspections on works managed by third parties.

You will become part of Binnies' national environmental team, a well-established and collaborative group of specialists across disciplines including environmental management, environmental impact assessment, ecology, landscape, water environment, and sustainability. Binnies is committed to supporting continued professional development and will encourage opportunities to gain further experience, qualifications, and professional accreditations.

The location for this role is flexible. However, candidates should be able to travel regularly to project sites across one or more of the following regions: Wales, the North West (United Utilities region), and the South East (Southern Water region).

We offer remote working arrangements, alongside access to a network of offices across the UK for use when not on site if you would prefer.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide environmental advice and support across multiple live construction sites.
• Act as the first point of contact for site teams on environmental matters.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, consents, and project requirements.
• Support construction teams with method statements, risk assessments, and environmental management plans.
• Undertake regular site inspections and audits, identifying issues and driving corrective actions.
• Respond reactively to environmental incidents, queries, or emerging risks.
• Liaise with project managers, contractors, regulators, and internal specialists as required.
• Support transition from design into construction, ensuring environmental risks are appropriately managed.
• Maintain clear records, reporting, and communication with the wider project and environmental teams.

Skills & Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in environmental science, environmental management, or a related discipline.
• Experience working in an environmental advisory role on construction or infrastructure projects (water sector experience desirable).
• Strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation and best practice.
• Experience supporting construction sites and engaging confidently with site teams.
• Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Membership of the Association of Environmental Clerk of Works or CIEEM desirable but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence.
