Looking to take your first step to becoming a Chef? Bennett Hay have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive minded individual to learn a trade, work towards completing a Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification and earn £17,000 per year plus benefits.
This is a Monday to Friday role, including one day per week spent at college learning all the skills of your trade, and four days per week working alongside our skilled and friendly teams putting that learning into practice. A typical workday shift will be 7am to 3pm, so you will have the benefit of work/life balance.
Our business is delivering exceptional guest service in workplace buildings on behalf of our corporate clients. We provide a full range of food service every day in some of the most prestigious buildings across London, using only the very best ingredients from high quality suppliers we know and trust. The focus is on nutrition and innovation, using modern styles. The Apprentice Chef role is mainly based in Victoria, but there will be plenty of opportunity to work in our other locations across the City and the West End.
As Apprentice Chef you will learn and be involved in all aspects of kitchen operations:
- Preparation of ingredients.
- Cooking meals through various different cooking methods.
- Plating up and presentation of food.
- Cleaning and clearing down work stations.
- Working in a safe manner at all times, developing an understanding of food safety and health and safety legislation.
- Portion control, including record keeping and waste management.
- Stock management and ordering.

- You will be committed and determined to succeed – there will be some early starts and lots of hard work.
- You will be passionate about food, with a genuine interest in food trends – and keen to learn more.

- You will have a mature approach – take ownership and be accountable for your own development, and be able to keep calm under pressure.
- You will have a good level of spoken English and communication skills.

- A salary of £17,000 per year, plus full tuition fees paid for the Level 2 Commis Chef Qualification.
