Locum Children’s Social Worker – Child Protection & Family Help Austin Dean Recruitment is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker for a locum opportunity with a local authority in Wareham, Dorset. This is an opportunity for a Qualified Social Worker to support children, young people and families through statutory social work services. You’ll join an established Child Protection and Family Help team, working on a varied caseload and helping achieve positive outcomes for families. About the role You’ll manage a statutory children’s social work caseload that may include: * Early Help * Children in Need (CIN) * Child Protection (CP) * Family Help * Pre-proceedings (PLO) * Care proceedings and court work * Safeguarding assessments * Care planning and intervention Key responsibilities * Deliver statutory social work services in line with the Children Act 1989 * Complete high-quality Child and Family Assessments * Manage Children in Need and Child Protection cases * Carry out safeguarding investigations and risk assessments * Undertake direct work with children, young people and families * Prepare court statements, reports and care plans * Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings * Maintain accurate case records and statutory documentation Requirements To be considered, you’ll need: * A recognised Social Work qualification * Current Social Work England registration * At least three years’ post-qualification experience in a UK local authority Children’s Services team * Experience in Child Protection, safeguarding, court work and Children in Need services * Enhanced DBS clearance * A full UK driving licence Pay and benefits * £38–£42 per hour * Up to £150 per week in allowable expenses where your home address is more than 30 miles from the designated work hub, subject to Austin Dean Recruitment’s terms and conditions * £500 referral bonus, subject to terms and conditions * A varied locum role within a supportive local authority service If you’re looking for your next locum Children’s Social Worker role in Dorset, contact Austin Dean Recruitment to find out more and apply
