Senior Project Engineer

Based in Southbank, this role sits within our Engineering Solutions team in the Distribution business. This role will see you participating in an engineering team who provide technical expertise across the Projects portfolio. You and the team will work with internal stakeholders, Design and Installation Service Providers to ensure projects are delivered in a cost‑efficient way and to high standards of quality.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
- Provide technical support into Customer and Company initiated projects across AusNet’s Electricity transmission and distribution networks
- Apply technical engineering knowledge to ensure efficient solutions can be reached on complex design projects
- Provide input into Primary designs and provide technical engineering advice for brownfield and greenfield substation projects
- Auditing detailed design deliverables to the required quality, meeting all current standards
- Develop and/or review scopes, detailed design and installation scope of works
- Provide technical input into staging, constructability, operability and maintainability (COM) and safety in design reviews
- Identify opportunities to develop new and update existing engineering standards
- Simplify complex engineering analysis for non‑engineers (e.g. summarising key decision‑making during delivery of detailed design)
You don’t need to check every box, however we’re looking for a good combination of:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong experience in electricity network engineering (substations and/or lines)
- Detailed technical knowledge and experience in the field of Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Primary Engineering
- Experience working or having worked as a Primary Engineer preferred
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
- Solid understanding of project lifecycles, design, construction, and risk management
- Demonstrated capability in concept development and/or detailed design
