Position: Sales Assistant

Hours: 15 hours per week. 7.5 hours over six days (Monday to Saturday) including weekends and bank holidays; 7.5 hours on a Sunday. Flexibility is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staff, manage stock, prepare and merchandise products.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers.
  • Actively support any fundraising promotions as directed by Ashgate Hospice or the Manager.
  • Implement promotions in the shop as directed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well‑presented shop environment to provide an excellent customer experience.
  • Assist with cash handling and banking protocol as required.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to adapt to different customer challenges.
  • Ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities and targets.
  • Experience as a key holder.
  • Knowledge of cash handling and banking protocol.
  • Completed DBS check (required as part of the pre‑employment process).
  • Vaccination against COVID‑19 (recommended/required by workplace safety policy).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
