The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
Part-time or full time, worked on a rota basis provided 8 weeks in advance. Day shift: 07:00-19:30. Night shift: 19:00-07:30. We may be able to offer shorter day shifts for further flexibility. As this is a 24‑hour inpatient service, the role requires flexibility to work a fair rotation of both day and night shifts to support safe staffing and equitable rotas for the whole team.
As a Registered Nurse within our Inpatient Unit, you will provide high-quality, specialist palliative and end of life care to patients and those important to them. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will deliver holistic, person-centred care that prioritises comfort, dignity and quality of life.
Responsibilities- You will assess and respond to complex clinical needs, support patients and families through challenging and emotional times, and contribute to a calm and therapeutic ward environment.
- The role also offers opportunities to take on shift leadership responsibilities, support junior colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of inpatient services.
- Support the safe and consistent delivery of inpatient care, helping to ensure patients and families continue to access specialist palliative and end of life support when they need it most.
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care, assessing and responding to complex needs while prioritising comfort, dignity and quality of life.
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to shared clinical decision-making and continuity of care across the patient journey.
- Support the day-to-day running of the inpatient unit, taking on shift leadership responsibilities when required, and providing guidance and support to junior colleagues within a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Support patients and families through symptom escalation, advance care planning, or end-of-life decision-making, ensuring care is responsive and sensitive.
- Prioritise safety of patients, staff, and visitors; promote vaccination and flu immunisation where appropriate.
- Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC registration and experience delivering compassionate, high-quality care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organisational and teamwork skills; ability to work sensitively with patients, families and colleagues in emotionally complex situations.
- A genuine passion for palliative and end-of-life care and a commitment to holistic, person-centred support that respects dignity, choice and comfort.
- Motivation to develop skills and knowledge with support for learning through mentorship, training and professional development opportunities.
- Experience in palliative care, oncology or a hospice setting.
- A post-registration qualification in palliative care or mentorship.
- Familiarity with electronic patient record systems, such as SystmOne.
