Support Your Local Community as a Volunteer. We are looking for organised, reliable and compassionate volunteers to support our shops as a sorting assistant. A regular commitment would be wonderful - ideally one morning or afternoon each week. That said, a few hours weekly would still make a meaningful difference and be greatly appreciated.
Location: Alfreton, Bakewell, Bolsover, Eckington, Killamarsh, Matlock, Staveley, Shirebrook.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Sorting Assistant Volunteer, you’ll be part of a friendly team of staff and volunteers who work together to make sure donated items are processed efficiently and with care. Depending on your interests, you may help with tasks such as:
- Sorting and preparing donations
- Checking items for quality
- Pricing stock
- Organising categories
- Supporting general housekeeping in the sorting area
Every contribution helps ensure great stock reaches our shop floors and raises vital funds for Ashgate Hospice.

We’re looking for Sorting Assistant Volunteers who enjoy being part of a supportive team and take pride in helping donations reach the shop in the best possible condition. You don’t need previous experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

Important Information
- Volunteers must be aged 16 or over
- All volunteers are required to attend:
- Voluntary Statutory Training (3 hours)
- Ashgate Hospice Induction (3 hours)
- Local role-specific training will be provided
