We are looking for friendly, reliable and community-minded volunteers to help raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospice by representing the hospice at public collections in supermarkets, sports matches, community venues and events. This is an essential outward-facing role, helping us build strong relationships within the community while raising funds that directly support patients and families across North Derbyshire.

Department: Community Fundraising

Location: Various community venues across North Derbyshire

Time Commitment: Flexible, ad hoc volunteering to suit your availability. Typical collection shifts last 2–4 hours. Opportunities available on weekdays and weekends throughout the year, with 3-4 collections per month available. Volunteers can sign up for as many or as few collections as they wish.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Attend organised public collection events at agreed dates and locations.
  • Set up and manage a designated collection point (materials provided).
  • Engage positively and respectfully with members of the public.
  • Share basic information about Ashgate Hospice and its services (briefing provided).
  • Safely handle and return collection buckets in line with procedures.
  • Act as an ambassador for the hospice, whilst reflecting its values.

  • No prior fundraising experience is required; full guidance and support will be provided.
