Support Your Local Community as a Volunteer. We are looking for organised, reliable and compassionate volunteers to support our teams within our clearance shops in Alfreton, Matlock and Hasland. Ideally you will support one morning or afternoon per week; however, a few hours still makes a big difference.
What You’ll Be Doing: As a Clearance Shop Assistant Volunteer, you’ll be part of a friendly team of staff and volunteers who work together to make sure donated items are processed efficiently and with care. Depending on your interests, you may help with tasks such as:
- Sorting and preparing large volumes of donated items
- Pricing stock
- Organising categories
- Serving at the till
- Helping with simple customer enquiries
- Supporting general housekeeping in the sorting area
Every contribution helps ensure great stock reaches our shop floors and raises vital funds for Ashgate Hospice.
Who We’re Looking For: We’re looking for Clearance Shop Assistant Volunteers who enjoy being part of a supportive team and take pride in helping donations reach the shop in the best possible condition. You don’t need previous experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

Important Information: Volunteers must be aged 16 or over. All volunteers are required to attend Voluntary Statutory Training (3 hours) and Ashgate Hospice Induction (3 hours). Local role-specific training will be provided. Confidentiality around patient and hospice information is essential.
