Our hospice is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join our Inpatient Unit (IPU) team, providing specialist palliative and end of life care. Main duties of the job
In this role, you will provide expert palliative and end of life nursing care, supporting patients and their families through difficult times. From assessing and implementing individualised care plans to ensuring effective symptom management, your compassionate approach will ensure dignity and comfort are prioritised. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, contributing to collaborative decision‑making and ensuring continuity of care. Acting as a shift leader when required, you will mentor and support junior staff, promoting a positive and supportive environment. Additionally, your involvement in service improvements and quality initiatives will help shape the ongoing development of our exceptional care services.
About us
Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life‑limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions. Last year, we cared for over 2,400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms, and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards. We also provide vital support to the people who are important to them, offering practical assistance and emotional support, including bereavement services. We’re more than a care provider. We’re a campaigner for sustainable end‑of‑life care funding in the UK, and we continually invest in our services and workforce.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Willingness to complete the Inpatient Unit RGN Development Portfolio in Specialist Palliative Care.
- Post‑registration qualification in palliative care or a relevant field.
