About ApprovalMax: ApprovalMax is a B2B SaaS platform that puts finance teams in control of their approvals. We sit at the heart of how accountants and mid-market finance teams run Accounts Payable, with deep integrations into Xero, QuickBooks Online and NetSuite. We are a profitable, scaling company, and we are building AI deep into our product.
The role: We're looking for a Director of Product to own our core approval workflow surfaces, implementation of our AI strategy across workflows, our integrations to accounting systems, and our new Expense Management product and to lead the two Product Managers on those lines. You'll help shape the future of our product, making it easier for users to automate more of their work through trusted rule-based and AI-driven solutions, while ensuring they remain in control. You'll also play a key role in shaping how our Product function operates and how we bring our products to market.
What you'll do:
- Own the roadmap, delivery and quality of our approval-workflow product, AI delivery, accounting-system integrations and expense management, and lead the big initiatives within them.
- Lead and develop two Product Managers and own accurate reporting, milestones and deliverables.
- Drive automation and autonomy - design, ship and refine rule-based and AI automation that users trust, so they delegate more while staying in control.
- Prepare the business case to justify future roadmap investments and work with product marketing to deliver betas and launches.
- Own how we hear and act on customer feedback and how the entire Product team reports on meeting customer needs.
- Be a guiding example of best practice for how Product learns user needs, builds roadmaps, runs product operations, reads the competitive landscape and takes products to market.
What we're looking for:
- Strong product leadership. You've led product squads and managed Product Managers, and can be trusted to run an area and make the call.
- Workflow, Expense and/or spend-management product experience.
- Strong product operations. You can lift roadmapping and delivery hygiene across a team.
- Commercial and go-to-market tradecraft, building the business case, modelling the investment, and planning betas and launches.
- A deep workflow product background, ideally from the accounting or spend ecosystem (Sage, Xero, QBO, Lightyear, Expensify, Dext or similar), with first-hand understanding of what finance teams and accountants need.
- Strong automation and AI product experience. You've designed and shipped rule-based and agentic AI automation that users trust.
- Comfortable working within an established Product Manager and Product Engineer delivery flow. You are senior and autonomous, able to own an area and set its direction.
- B2B SaaS experience in a scale-up environment.
Nice to have:
- Fintech, accounting or finance-adjacent domain beyond the core accounting systems.
What we offer:
- Salary: Up to £130,000, dependent on experience and location.
- Healthcare: Fully funded healthcare cover.
- Health & Wellbeing: Health & Wellbeing Benefit Stipend.
- Home Office Setup: One-off £500 reimbursement following successful completion of probation.
- Annual Leave: 26 days of paid time off + 1 day birthday leave.
- Service-years recognition financial reward.
- Growing international business with 20,000+ subscribers.
