The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team in the North West & Central framework team. This role, based in Tamworth, is responsible for supporting a high-volume programme of reactive, planned and preventative civils works across Network Rail infrastructure.

This is a key role within the commercial team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of commercial performance across multiple workstreams, influence strategic decision-making and support the development of junior commercial staff. You’ll be operating in a dynamic framework environment covering a wide variety of civils works including structures, earthworks, drainage and rail-side infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a leading role in delivering commercial success across the framework:

  • Commercial Leadership & Financial Control
    • Take full responsibility for the commercial management of assigned projects, ensuring profitability and contractual compliance
    • Prepare and present applications for payment, CVRs, forecasts and final accounts, ensuring contractual entitlements are maximised
    • Manage cost performance, cash flow and financial reporting across multiple schemes
  • Framework & Project Delivery
    • Support delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
    • Manage variations, compensation events, early warnings and contractual notices
    • Provide commercial input into programme planning and delivery strategy
  • Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management
    • Lead the procurement, negotiation and management of subcontractors, through to final account settlement
    • Drive value, performance and strong relationships across the supply chain
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, operational teams and supply chain partners
    • Act as a key commercial interface within the framework
  • Leadership & Development
    • Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors, Assistant QS and Trainees within the team
    • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing commercial function

About You

We’re looking for a confident and commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a fast-paced infrastructure environment. You will bring:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, rail or infrastructure
  • Experience delivering works within asset management or maintenance frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of NEC or Network Rail forms of contract
  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and mentoring junior team members
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to commercial management
